The Littlest Heroes Project - Gracelyn

Today I had the honor of sharing a few moments with a very tiny hero.

What would you say if I told you this little girl takes 25-30 different medications a day, and has already been hospitalized 5 times? She is fighting Cystic Fibrosis.

But with that little smile on her face, you would never know.

This is what makes Gracelyn a hero, despite all that she has been through she keeps on fighting, with a smile on her face.

Weekdays starting at 6pm, weekend mornings starting at 8am, and weekend evenings starting at 5:30pm.

The FF&F sessions will be 1/2 hour sessions designed for an individual child, siblings, couple, or family.

I have been waiting to meet this little peanut. She is too adorable. She was sleeping when I got there, but it didn't last too long. A bad case of the hiccups, too much going on to miss, and she was not ready to go back down. We took a few photos, and will continue in the next week or so. Hopefully I'll be able to get there around nap time, so we can finish up.

This is one of my little man's best buddies! "Mr. K" will be starting kindergarten in the fall. I have a hard time getting seniors to not smile, we normally end up with goofy faces while attempting to be serious. Mr K had it down pat. Every time I asked him not to smile, he gave the coolest, most serious face that I could have asked for. Those I had to save for the gallery, he has such a cute smile I had to post these. This little guy was "Trigger" happy! So many things to see, and smell. For only 4 months old, he did a great job listening to his family despite all the distractions. He is going to be very handsome as he gets older.

I had a wonderful senior session this evening with "Miss R". We went to two great locations, and I think I have found a new favorite. I don't want to give away too much information, but I felt like I spent the evening in Italy. We finished up the evening in my studio taking yearbook photos, "Miss R" has a twin sister that joined us, and I look forward to taking her pictures in the spring. Thanks ladies for a great time.

Beach Bummin

Tonight the weather finally cooperated and offered us a nice evening at the beach. We celebrated a late first birthday with some photos of "Miss T", who was not so in to getting her picture taken, or the beach for that matter, but she sure loved the slide. Big brother and sister had a great time playing on the beach with their cousin. I think I even brought a little bit of the beach home with me, and I am sure they did as well.

I had a very fun session this evening with the daughter of one of my good friends. Miss M and I had a blast "playing". She was so adorable in her dress she had followers. A little girl wanted her picture taken with Miss M, and a little boy said "WOW" when he saw her.

These beautiful leather albums are gorgeous! They are printed on a nice thick paper. This is an example of a business album I did for an apartment complex, but these would work great for seniors, family photos, and children. You can even get the front embossed. I owe a huge "thank you" to everyone that voted and purchased my Hallmark Father's Day card. Specifically my parents, and in-laws, that I think bought out the entire state of Michigan. And everyone at D's Daycare, for voting religiously. After the first week it went on sale, I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

I received a call on Thursday from the staff at Hallmark, congratulating me. My card was chose as the grand prize winner! I am beyond happy. I didn't even think I would be chosen as a finalist, and I was shocked the day my card moved in to first place, and after that, I don't think it moved for the rest of the contest.

Hallmark put together a press release that they have sent to the media, and my work also put together a press release that they sent out. I am guessing it will be in the paper some time next week, if you see it let me know. We don't get any Oakland County papers.

I am setting up a day next week for free mini sessions, on Saturday, and Millpond Park in Fenton. I will be posting a blog in the next few days with the details. Keep your eye out if you are interested.

I had the opportunity Saturday afternoon to spend some time with my niece while taking her dance photos. Even though she is in to getting her groove on, she was not in to doing it for the photographer the dance company hired. Problem solved. I think I saw some of the best ballet moves I have seen in a long time.

Meet Lucy

I am getting excited. Next week starts the revealing of the Hallmark Finalists for the Father's Day Card Competition. I selected my charity today that will receive a $250 donation. I chose Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. They are such a wonderful organization. I hope to participate as a photographer in another year or so. I think I woudl be too much of an emotional wreck to do it right now with the kids being so young. If you have never checked our their website, take a look. Keep in mind you more than likely will start crying, I do every time I visit. The provide such a wonderful service for parents. I have joined The Littlest Heroes Project. the Littlest Heroes Project is an organization is dedicated to providing a free photo session for children fighting serious illnesses and life altering disabilities. As in, I am a finalist! In the Hallmark YourParenthood Father's Day Card contest. I received a phone call from Hallmark this evening notifying me that I am one of 12 finalists selected. That comes with a $250 cash prize, $250 donation to a charity of my choice, and my card will be sold in Hallmark stores and online. It will officially be announced in February and the voting will begin soon after. You better get ready to start voting because this is not the last you will hear of it. A big thank you goes to my husband for being a great father. I think I will buy 50 of these cards when they go on sale and he will get one every year for Father's Day.

I need help coming up with a charity to donate to. Please comment with a suggestion. I want the money to go to a good cause.

I know times are hard right now, and with Christmas approaching, I decided to do something that I have not done before. Sell the digital negatives from your session. Normally you can only order prints from your session, but until December 31st, 2008, you can buy all the digital proofs from your session for $250. Your cd will also come with a copyright letter giving you permission to print your images for personal use. you can take advantage of this offer with an upcoming session or a previous session. Most photographers sell their digital images only after a large print order, for over $1000 for low resolution images. These are high resolution images that you can print up large sizes. You can upload your pictures and use them for holiday cards. Your cd order will come with recomendations on where to get your images printed at the highest quality. Order now before the offer expires.

I spent the afternoon with my gorgeous cousin touring the area and taking her senior photos. We started off at the Grand Blanc Commons trails, a place I have been wanting to do a session at, and ended up downtown Fenton. Can't make it to the Holiday Portrait Event October 25th in Fenton? Now you have another option to get a session in while the weather is still decent.

I am offering a fall mini session, "Go Take A Hike" at the Grand Blanc Commons trails in Grand Blanc. These are the hiking trails behind McFarland Library. This would be ideal for a family with young children, or even engagement pictures. There are endless places to explore such as a beautiful old bridge, plenty of trails with beautiful colors, and wide open fields. The possabilities are endless. These sessions will run at a special rate of $50 for up to 45 minutes and 15 images in your gallery. The best time is late afternoon with the session starting before 6pm. I can be available on weeknights for these sessions only.

Spread The Love Contest

The season for giving is fast approaching, and I know the feeling of being tight on money, so I have decided to donate a mini session to one lucky family. Our family of three is now a family of four

After 9 months of waiting, we are very excited to announce the birth of our daughter, Lilah Anne. She was born a week early on August 23rd at 6:01 pm. She weighed 7lbs 7oz and was 18 inches long. She has a head full of dark hair and looks like a mini me, a very mini me.

I have finished the last of my senior sessions for the time being and I am officially not taking any more sessions until the fall. Our little girl is expected to arrive in the next few weeks and I am not moving so fast anymore. I will only be doing a few sessions in the fall and already have some booked. Senior Session with Miss A

We braved the sweltering heat this evening and headed to downtown Fenton for a senior session. Little did we know that on Thursday nights they have music in the park. The area was packed. Looked like a lot of fun. We made our way around hoping to not be a distraction. Miss A's mom was wonderful and carried my camera bag for most of the shoot, making it much easier for a photographer that is 8 months pregnant and not a fan of the heat normally. Miss A has the most beautiful red hair, normally it is curly but she had it straight for pictures tonight. Thank you ladies for a wonderful evening downtown. Here is your sneak peek!

I had an amazing senior session this evening with a model that was willing to do whatever I asked, thank you Miss K. I am sure she is at home putting on a ton of chapstick as I think she must have smiled for over an hour and a half straight. We went to a new location for me, Heavenly Scent Herb Farm. I am in love. There were so many different places to take pictures, I could have spent all day there. If anyone is interested in booking a session at that location, there is an additional $50 fee. I haven't posted any personal blogs in a while so I thought I would fill everyone in. The weeks are narrowing down, I am due August 30th and it is quite a challenge keeping up with a very active two year old. Thank goodness both of our parents live so close, it is nice to visit and have someone else to help chase him around while my husband works most weekend. Here are a few pictures from our 4th of July weekend. The little man LOVED the fireworks, had a great time at the parade, and loved his first trip to Crossroads Village today (complete with first train ride, first pony ride, and first ride on a carousel) . Hope everyone else is enjoying the holiday weekend.

As most of you know, I am due in August. This will be limiting the sessions and availability for photoshoots. I am thinking I will be available for June and some of July. After that I can't guarantee anything. If you are intersted in having senior pictures taken over the summer I would suggest booking your appointment very soon. I should be available again for a few sessions in October. If you need yoru headshot taken for the yearbook, I will need your schools specifications as to background color and size. Welcoming Spring with an announcement and contest

I am glad it is finally here. I can't wait for the weather to start warming up so I get get out and take some photos. Here is a picture from today where we celebrated by taking a trip to the park. I hope many more will be coming in the near future.

To kick off spring, I would like to announce that I will be booking mini sessions late April/early May for a special spring mini session event that will be announced soon. The only thing left to set up is the location and I need help choosing. I have a few locations listed on the poll below. If you have other ideas please add them in.

If I choose to hold the event and a location that you added in, I will waive the session fee if you book a mini session.

Taking some time off

This isn't ablog I have been excited to write but I am getting a lot of inquiries from my website and I feel this will be the easiest way to address the majority of them. First of all, I am very excited to announce that my husband and I are expecting our second child late August. Along with that, like with my first son, comes the need to take some time off from photography due to the pregnancy being high risk. Baby and I are doing fine, but it is hard enough just keeping up with life right now to take on anything additional for the time being. I am hoping to be able to start taking appointments mid to to late spring and they will be minimized until after the birth of the baby. If you have any questions please feel free to email me as I would still be happy to answer them, but hopefully this will explain my lack of blog entries and recent sessions. 2007 Image Of The Year

I decided to start off the new year with a Blog Contest. I have gone through my 2007 sessions and selected a few of my favorite images. Very had to do, I have way too many favorites. Now it is up to you. Vote! Vote! Vote! Send your family and friends to vote! The contest will run through the end of the month and then the winners will be announced. Yes, I said winners, and that also involves PRIZES!

2008 Gallery and Editing Fees

Beginning in 2008, all client galleries will be posted for two weeks. During that time friends and family may view the proofs and orders may be placed. When your gallery expires, there will be a $25 fee to repost for an additional week.

When viewing your gallery, all proofs are edited prior to posting. Additional editing beyond 2 changes will be an additional $15 fee.You will have a maximum of 2 changes you can make to photos in your gallery without incurring a cost. This includes requesting a photo in black and white or in color, storyboard edits, and card edits.

Hours go in to editing and proofing sessions and creating cards and storyboards. The initial editing and proofing is part of your session fee, anything after the gallery is posted required additional time and will incur an additional creativity fee.

Trip To The Library

Here are a few pictures of my baby and our trip to the library to visit Grandmama (she works there). He loves visiting, we try to stop by once week. They have a big wooden train he can climb on and toys to play with, sometimes we even get a book or cd. We love the library. I love picking pictures of my son that tell a story, they really complete the memories and are great gift items as well. In 2008 I am going to be offering a few different session options including themed sessions. More to come.

2008 Sessions

I have made some decisions regarding my 2008 sessions and I am only going to be doing 1-2 sessions per month. If you are looking to set up a session for next year, please contact me as soon as possible to book your session as they will be limited. I still plan on a spring mini session event once it warms up, and those will be limited as well. As a full time employee, wife and mother I need to make sure my priorities are in order and my family always comes first. I do look forward to meeting some new clients, including a few newborns in December.

Protected Pictures

This is not something that I have looked forward to posting on my blog, but I feel that it is necessary. All photographs taken at your photo session are federally protected by U.S. Federal Copyright Laws. There are several protections put in to place to prevent them from being copied any where else. All prints taken at your session need to be ordered through Little Wonders Photography and I send them out to be printed at a professional lab. This helps to control the quality that my images present as most local print places do not have calibrated printers.

Any photo ordered 8x10 or smaller is printed on slightly textured professional paper that when scanned the print will not be usable. Each photo also comes with a sticker of authenticity on the back of the photo. These are acid free stickers and they protect photographs from being taken to a local printer and scanned and printed. Labs will not allow you to print them. If you try to remove the stickers it will bend and ruin your photo. These efforts are all in place to protect photographers.

I appreciate your respect for the quality that professional images present. This is something that I feel very passionate about and I would be happy to discuss it in more detail if anyone has questions.

What is a storyboard?

A story board is a custom design collection of two or more pictures put together to create a story.
I custom create a storyboard for each session and make that available for order. Storyboards may contain the child's name, a design or a favorite quote. They all come mounted on styrene for stability.

The best way to display a storyboard is drilling two holes in the top and hanging it with a ribbon. It can also be displayed on an easel or framed in a 10x20 frame (normally found with mat for 5x7's that can be taken out).

The story boards I offer can have from 2-6 pictures in them. The size and format of the pictures will vary by template.

After spending the week working and editing my pictures from the Holiday Portrait Event, I went up north for the weekend with two fellow photographers for a "Photo Retreat". It was a lot of fun. We drove up to Lelenau Penninsula and stayed in a cabin. It was great to be able to stop on our way to take pictures and not have to worry about time or anything else. We drove up the penninsula stopping in Leland and made up way up to the tip at Grand Traverse Lighthouse. We did trash the dress sessions for each of us off the dock at out cabin. It was lot of fun experimenting with the moonlight and the early morning sun. Here is a sneak peak from our trip.

Fall is here!

As much as I dread the cold winters, poor lighting and lack of photo opportunities it brings, I do love fall. As a matter of fact, it's my favorite season. We spent the day yesterday with "Aunt Becky" at the apple orchard and walking the trails at a local metro park. My goal for the day was to get a good picture of him with candy or an apple for a contest. We had a great day. Attempted a pic with some rock candy on a stick. That was a lime green slimy mess and included a huge fit when I took it away. Caramel apples are just too messy so we went with a plain old single apple. The bees were way too much at the apple orchard, and after Jonathan's first bee sting, I have also developed a fear of bees. So we brought the apple with us to Indian Springs where we decided to walk the 3.8 mile nature trail. He was so good. Loved looking around at the streams, spotting airplanes, and looking at the leaves, bridges and woods. Played with his sword, had some dried veggies, and learned how to blow bubbles himself. I found what I thought was a great place for him to eat his apple, and he got up, walked off and sat in the middle of the trail to eat it. He is much better at coming up with ideas than I am. Spent the last mile sound asleep. Here's to a good day.

Welcome to Little Wonders Photography blog.
I have been working on a new website and I decided to start a blog, tonight. So this is where we begin. I am a mommy, wife, daughter, sister, full time employee and photographer. I spend the majority of my days at work. Evenings playing "Little People", dancing to kids music and playing "Ruffy Tuffy". Nights watching C.S.I with my husband and working on my photography business. In a nutshell, that is me, that is Little Wonders Photography.
